Date:2024-03-18 Source:Syngenta Group

On February 29, Syngenta Group announced a partnership with IBM Research and biotechnology company Maxygen. This collaboration aims to combine Syngenta Group's agricultural research achievements with the digitalization and biotechnology capabilities of its partners, to provide innovative solutions for global agricultural challenges more efficiently. This marks an important project achieved through Syngenta Group's innovation accelerator platform, ShootsBySyngenta.com, since its establishment in 2023.

Syngenta Group will utilize IBM's software, which uses language models to synthesize new molecules and materials, to improve its chemical synthesis capacity. Moreover, by employing IBM's natural language processing (NLP) technology, Syngenta Group will offer scalable, precise, and data-driven predictive modeling for its partners. This will allow Syngenta Group to conduct research on multiple related compounds simultaneously and prioritize solutions that maximize commercial value, thus expediting the launch of new products into the market.

Additionally, Syngenta Group has partnered with Maxygen, a biotechnology company that specializes in protein directed evolution. This collaboration aims to optimize molecular enabling technologies to generate protein variants with enhanced functional characteristics, thereby further expediting the speed of product development.
