Brazilian Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Visits Syngenta Beijing Innovation Center

On March 28, Carlos Favaro, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, and his delegation visited Syngenta Beijing Innovation Center. The purpose of this exchange is to further enhance the confidence of China-Brazilian cooperation in the agricultural field, which is of great significance to continuously reinforcing cooperation in sustainable agriculture in the future. Carlos Favaro said that he expects to strengthen close cooperation with Syngenta Group in sustainable agricultural development.

The Syngenta Beijing Innovation Center is one of the two major global biotechnology R&D centers of Syngenta Group. During his visit, Carlos Favaro learnt more about Syngenta Group leveraging the latest technology to help growers increase production while reducing environmental impact, and conducted exchanges on various topics such as regenerative agriculture and Syngenta Group’s Reverte project in Brazil, which aims to restore productivity to 1 million hectares of degraded Brazilian pastures by 2026.

China is Brazil’s largest trading partner and the largest importer of Brazilian soybeans. It is estimated that by 2023, Brazil’s soybean exports to China will account for 70% of its total production. In January this year, the first shipment of corn imported by Syngenta Group from Brazil arrived in China, broadening China’s corn import channels.
