The 2003 Most Competitive Chinese Listed Companies List issued by ChinaNews Evaluation Center on June 26 names Sinochem International as the 10th most competitive listed company among the 100 selected companies.
The first ten listed companies are TCL, Yangzi Petrochemical, Sinochem Shanghai Petrochemical, Amoisonic Electronics, Changan Automobile, ChinaBird, China FAW Group, ST Kelon, Chenming Paper and Sinochem International.
The list is based on the financial statements in the 2001 and 2002 annual reports of the listed companies. According to the 2002 financial statements issued by Sinochem International, its major business income was about 8 billion RMB yuan; the net profit was 260 million RMB yuan, increasing by 170 million over 2001; earnings per share was 0.47 RMB yuan (equaling 0.70 yuan/share ex-rights), almost doubling the 0.24 yuan of 2001; and the return on net assets increased from 6.28% of 2001 to 16.65% of 2002.
