On July 8, the winners of the 2025 National Science and Technology Awards were announced in Beijing. Shuguang Rubber Industry Research and Design Institute received the Second Prize of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award for its participation in the project “Key Technologies for Continuous Polymerization and Direct Melt Spinning of High-Performance Polyamide 66 (PA66) Industrial Yarn and Its Application in High-End Tires.”

Led by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, the project brought together Shenma Industrial Co., Ltd. and Shuguang Rubber Industry Research and Design Institute in an industry-university-research collaboration to overcome key technological bottlenecks in core reinforcement materials for high-end aircraft tires. The team achieved a series of key technological breakthroughs, enabling industrial-scale production and full domestic commercialization.

As the project’s key application partner, Shuguang Rubber Industry Research and Design Institute leveraged its expertise in tire R&D to apply its self-developed high-performance polyamide 66 tire cord fabric to high-end aircraft tires. Through optimized structural integration, it significantly improved tire load capacity and impact resistance while reducing weight, playing a pivotal role in bringing the technology from the laboratory to commercial application. Going forward, the company will continue to strengthen collaborative innovation, further advancing domestic civil aviation tire technologies for weight reduction, longer service life, and retreading, while helping safeguard the security and resilience of China’s aircraft tire industrial chain through homegrown innovation.
