The year of 2020, full of shocks and changes, is to hand over to 2021, full of hope and challenge. On this festive occasion and the turning point of New Year, on behalf of the Leading Party Group, Board of Directors and management executives of Sinochem Group, I would like to extend our greetings to all staff, who had been bold in overcoming difficulties in the past year! The sincere greetings go to the ex-top executive, colleagues, families, and friends from all walks of life, who have long been supporting the development of Sinochem!
Year 2020 is not only of extraordinary significance to China, but also to Sinochem. Confronted with severe and complex internal and external situations, under the steadfast leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, Sinochem strictly abides by relevant requirements of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council and State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, bravely plays the role of mainstay, conscientiously fulfills the duties and mission of a central state-owned enterprise, makes every effort to roll with the punches of the pandemic and the plunge in oil prices, lays stress on pandemic prevention and control and business development in a two-pronged manner, steers the high-quality corporate development with high-quality party building, achieves the annual targets in all dimensions, and takes a solid step in the journey of building a world-class chemical conglomerate.
Throughout Year 2020, in the face of the sudden COVID-19 pandemic, Sinochem loses no time in acting upon orders, works overtime to manufacture anti-pandemic materials, devotes itself to the fight against the pandemic despite hardships, upholds original aspirations and mission, and performs excellently in addressing the grand challenge.
Throughout Year 2020, with the unswerving belief in “notching up victory against the pandemic and ensuring business operation”, Sinochem goes all out to achieve the annual production and business goals and tasks, takes effective measures to improve the quality and efficiency of corporate operation, and demonstrates strong risk-resistance capacity and indomitable resilience.
Throughout Year 2020, Sinochem puts the philosophy of “In Science We Trust” into practice, constantly makes progress in the profound reform and comprehensive benchmarking, sets milestones in nurturing technological innovation capabilities and the implementation of major strategies, and progressively lays a more solid foundation for industrial development.
Throughout Year 2020, we vigorously advance the restructuring of Sinochem Group and China National Chemical Corporation (ChemChina). Agricultural sector of Sinochem and ChemChina was the first pilot, altogether shaping Syngenta Group China, acting as an important engine for promoting scientific and technological progress, and modernization of China’s agriculture.
Throughout Year 2020, Sinochem gives full play to the pacesetting role of Party building, follows the overall requirements for party building and organizational building in the new era, shoulders political responsibility of governing the party and enforcing strict discipline, steers the high-quality development with high-quality Party building, and unite cadres and employees in fulfilling the undertaking.
In addition, Year 2020 marks the 70th Anniversary of Sinochem. Looking back, Sinochem engraves the original aspirations in mind, and embed assuming responsibility with pioneering spirit and serving China with entrepreneurship in the corporate soul. Looking forward, Sinochem bears our mission in mind, will accelerate building Sinochem into a world-class chemical conglomerate.
In Year 2021, both opportunities and challenges will lie ahead for Sinochem: The global economic situation will remain compound; the economic recovery will remain uneven with great uncertainty; a variety of derivative risks derived from the pandemic are ignorable. However, “profound changes unseen in centuries” are also brimming with “great opportunities unseen in centuries”. Sinochem will once again stand at new historical juncture along with the Nation.
In the face of new opportunities and new situations, only reformers advance, only innovators grow stronger, and only reformers and innovators win. Year 2021 is the first year of “the 14th Five-Year Plan” Period as well as marching towards the Second Centenary Goal in China, and the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC. Recently, the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the Central Economic Work Conference were successfully held, pinpointing the direction for setting foothold at the new development stage, observing new development concept and blazing new development path. Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Sinochem must take reform and innovation as the fundamental driving force, advance the restructuring of Sinochem and ChemChina, and effectively consolidate the status and contribution of Sinochem and ChemChina in China’s overall development during “the 14th Five-Year Plan” Period; aim high to make breakthroughs in core technologies, achieve significant progress in observing the philosophy of “In Science We Trust”; build modern state-owned enterprise system with Chinese characteristics, make breakthroughs in the profound reform; improve the construction of supervisory framework, promote the in-depth integration of Party building and business development, and pay tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC with outstanding achievements.
The spring breeze and spring rain catalyze the beauty of springtime. New wonderful future is on the horizon. We will “roll up our sleeves to work harder” with arduousness and diligence, and make unremitting efforts to build Sinochem and ChemChina into a world-class integrated chemical conglomerate. I believe under bugle call for advancing reform and launching entrepreneurship and innovation, we will surely address various risks and challenges by all means, brave the wind and waves, and embark brilliant chapters together!
