Sinochem Holdings 02-17

On February 6 (GMT+3), two consecutive 7.8-magnitude earthquakes hit southern Turkey near the Syrian border, causing heavy casualties and property losses. After the earthquake, Sinochem Holdings has been highly concerned with the safety of our local employees. Our overseas subsidiaries helped with local employees in the first place, and proactively participated in the assistance for the earthquake-stricken areas in Turkey and Syria.

PTG has factory and R&D centers in Turkey, about 900 kilometers away from the earthquake epicenter and are not directly affected. After the earthquake, PTG’s Turkish factory urgently donated 500,000 Turkish liras (about RMB 180,000) to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, and tires for rescue vehicles in accordance with the needs of the local government. The factory has also organized blood donation among employees, and provided support for clients in disaster-stricken areas by extending debt collection. On the 7th, PTG headquarters decided to donate another 50,000 euros (about RMB 540,000 in total) to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, and will continue to provide other assistances.

The warehouse of Syngenta Group Turkey in Adana, the earthquake-stricken area, has been transformed into emergency shelter. The residences of 45 employees in the company’s commercial office have been damaged. Syngenta Turkey arranged hotel stays for employees and distributed emergency supplies and food. Syngenta Group has also organized donations to the Turkish Red Crescent, providing onsite medical support, food, shelter and resources in affected areas, to help people fight the disaster.

In addition, Elkem has donated to the Norwegian Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts in Turkey and Syria.
